Research on power quality monitoring system for high speed railway based on ZigBee routing optimization algorithm

Taking it into consideration that ZigBee routing algorithm fails to well select optimal path, a ZigBee routing optimization algorithm is proposed, selecting the shortest path with each node maintaining its own neighbor table, which is defined by IEEE802.15.4 standard. Besides, in order to avoid network congestion and excessive energy consumption of nodes, this paper considers the communication link busy status and residual energy of nodes, when the remaining energy of the nodes below the energy threshold, introducing the concept of standby nodes. NS2 simulation experiments show that improved algorithm reduces hop-counts, end-to-end delay and increases network packet delivery ratio. Since the purpose of the algorithm is to improve the real-time performance of the monitoring system by reducing hop-counts, this paper attempts to apply improved ZigBee routing algorithm to high-speed rail power quality monitoring system. Test result shows that system adopting this improved algorithm runs stability, and has high real-time.
