Are stem changes as natural as affixes?

Deux types de processus ont ete proposes pour rendre compte du comportement linguistique des mots morphologiquement complexes: le changement de radical et l'affixation. L'A. montre que le premier est plus difficile a acquerir que le second dans des langues telles que l'anglais, l'allemand et l'hebreu. Il propose une experimentation ou les sujets doivent apprendre la morphologie du pluriel d'une langue artificielle dans laquelle la regularite/irregularite des changements de radical et de l'affixation est controlee. Il montre ainsi que c'est bien le caractere regulier/irregulier qui entre en jeu dans la plus grande facilite d'utilisation des suffixes comme marqueurs du pluriel dans les langues naturelles
