Recently, international shipping rates of steel members increase as overseas construction projects increases. Steel members are frequently damaged and deformed during shipment, and heat straightening technique is applied for repairing structural damage despite no authorized specification. However, overheated or overstressed straightening repair can change mechanical properties of damaged steel, therefore great caution is demanded on heat straightening repair. In this study, experimental investigation was performed under different specimens thickness and deformation angle conditions for the purpose of analyzing the effects damaged-heat straightening repair on the structural properties (yield strength, elongation, chemical component, hardness) and evaluating structural integrity of repaired steel members.
