Management of a community storage system: A coal programming model

Abstract In an agriculture-based country, post-harvest technology plays an important role in the process of development of its economy. The increasing production of foodgrains urges the need for establishment of modern, efficient, community-storage structures. The management of such systems invariable involve multiple objectives. The present paper describes how a linear goal programming model can be developed for such a system. The results are discussed, considering a region under Union Territory of Delhi, India and concluded that the model will give an insight into various activities of the centre and thereby increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the management through fulfilling the timely needs of the farmer and the industrialist as well.
