Long-term results of minimally invasive treatment for chronic pancreatitis

rate was 51%, and the success rate of re―treatment for recurrences was 84%. While the minimally invasive treatments provided effective long―term benefits without complications in approximately 80% of cases, endoscopic treatment had to be repeated in 19 cases (16%) and surgery in 8 cases (7%). Many complicated cases, such as those involving pseudocysts or lesions in the pancreatic tail, are resistant to the minimally invasive treatment; in such cases surgical treatment needs to be considered.
