Lectures on Neuroanatomy

rightly refers to the " mesmeric x-ray picture" and to the fact that it does not correlate with disability. Asbestos is fully discussed and he regards the chemical reactions on the asbestos fibre producing the asbestos body as " unique in industrial pulmonary disease," thus omitting the comparable talc and mica bodies from the discussion. A brief summary of byssinosis and farmers' lung is followed by a long chapter on the metals in which the account of beryllium and its effects is particularly well done. The last two chapters are devoted respectively to the irritant gases and welding, in the discussion of which Professor Browne casts doubt on the benign nature of welders' siderosis. The book can be recommended as an entertaining contribution to the study of the industrial pulmonary diseases.
