Highlights ► We examined the effects of mindfulness on the relation between neuroticism and depression. ► Neuroticism predicts current depressive symptoms even when assessed six years apart. ► Dispositional mindfulness moderates this relationship. ► High levels of dispositional mindfulness protect against negative effects of neuroticism.
