A cooperative framework for geological interpretation of remote sensing image

This paper presents a framework for human-computer interaction (HCI)-based geological interpretation of remote sensing images in circumstance of cooperative work. Since image interpretation application tasks often turn out to be a heavy workload, timely, tight, and quality demanding, it is too overwhelming for the conventional work mode which typically involves single interpreter and isolated computers. The computer-supported cooperative interpretation framework, with synchronized operation mode for multi-user in different locations, is brought up to overcome the handling capacity and efficiency problem. The design plan focuses on building a feasible client/server framework for computer-supported cooperative work in LAN environment. This framework adopts centralized data management tactic for data storage, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) for reliable transmission mechanism, and XML-based representation method for document sharing and matching.
