Fault-Tolerant Control of Five-Phase Open-End Induction Machine Drive with A Floating Capacitor

Based on the control of the five-phase open-end winding induction motor (OEWIM) drive system, where the main and floating inverters are supplied by a DC power and a floating capacitor respectively, an open-phase fault-tolerant strategy is proposed by taking advantage of multiple degrees of freedom. Without extra hardware-assisted expense, the fault-tolerant strategy ensures the smooth output torque and stable floating capacitor voltage when the open-circuit fault occurs on the inverter legs or stator windings. Experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant strategy.
