On the Analysis of Effective Capacity for 5G Millimeter-Wave Communication

This paper conducts a mathematical analysis of effective capacity for millimeter-wave (mmWave) radio propagation suitable for 5G communication in the indoor and outdoor environment. Recent developments in 5G emphasize that $\alpha-\eta-\kappa-\mu$ distribution can characterize mmWave radio propagation at 28 GHz in outdoor line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS and 60GHz in LOS scenarios. To this end, a novel exact closed-form expression is derived for the effective capacity in $\alpha-\eta- \kappa-\mu$ fading environment. Furthermore, to obtain important insights into the effect of channel parameters on the effective capacity, the asymptotic analysis is provided at high signal-to-noise ratio regime.
