Distribution network reconfiguration for loss reduction using MILP

Automated switches in electric distribution are typically used for autonomous or assisted restoration of service during outages. This papers looks at the benefits in terms of loss reduction from leveraging these devices during normal operating conditions. We show through Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP), with a practical insight, that Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR) of distribution networks is technically sound. We also establish extensions of this base problem.
