“Lyophilisomes”: A New Type of (Bio)capsule

Syntheticrather than biological building blocks are used because of theproceduresemployed. For biomedical applications it would beadvantageous if capsules could be prepared from the vast re-pertoireof(large) naturalmacromolecules, preferablywithoutthe need for amphiphilicity. One such example encompasseshollow microcapsules prepared by using cavitation methods, for example, spray-drying of aqueous albumin solutions.
