Aim\ To research the temperature distribution in an agitated tank which is heated by vertical pipes. Methods\ There are four sets of vertical heating pipes equipped symmetrically in an agitated tank whose diameter is 500 mm. The working liquid is glycerine whose purity is 99.5%. The LC technique was used to measure the temperature distributions in the tank. Thed liquid crystal particals are dispersed uniformly in it. Results and Conclusion\ The temperature distributions in the tank is not uniform when the Reynolds number of the impeller is low, and there exist high temperature field near the vertical pipes.
