Analysis Method for Estimating Transfer Efficiency and Error Rate of Metasurface-Based SWIPT

In this paper, an accurate and efficient analysis method of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) based on metasurface is presented and studied. For the wireless power transfer (WPT) and wireless information transmission (WIT) parts of the SWIPT system, the proposed method can analyze the WPT transfer efficiency and WIT bit error rate of the receivers in vertical direction. To further verify the accuracy of the proposed method, a SWIPT system based on a 1-bit reconfigurable reflective metasurface operating at 5 GHz is adopted to transmit power and information through a directional beam. Measurement show that the predicted results of the proposed method are very close to the actual data, which can be used to efficiently estimate the transmission quality of SWIPT system.
