Test and study on volute chamber structural optimization of cyclone shaft

Existing research results at home and abroad show that there appear some unfavorable hydraulic phenomena in volute chamber of cyclone shafts,such as unsteady flow pattern,serious eccentricity and smaller cavity.In order to solve these problems,theoretical analyses and model tests were conducted on the basis of the volute chamber configuration for a specified project.A modified volute chamber configuration was put forward,with the radii,r_1 and r_2 of volute chamber depending upon the radius R of the vertical shaft: r_1=(1.5~1.6)R,r_2=(0.58~0.625)r_1,and with the angle θ between the diversion sill and the diversion channel side wall changing from 0° to 10°.The model test results show that the cyclone vertical shaft with the modified volute chamber configuration is a good one for simpler structure,lower project quantity and smoother flow pattern in the volute chamber.
