GPU-Based Intra Decompression for 8K Real-Time AVS3 Decoder

Recently, the draft of AVS3 baseline has been completed. Compared with AVS2 and HEVC, its coding efficiency has been improved about 30%, but it has brought higher encoding and decoding complexity. In order to satisfy the growing demands on real-time decoding for high resolution video, a novel GPU parallel algorithm for intra decompression is proposed in this paper, which greatly improves the intra decompression speed and makes full use of GPU. The experiment shows that the average processing speed is up to 53fps for 8K 150Mbps all intra stream and only needs 10 threads of CPU, with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080TI GPU and intel I7 8700K CPU.
