A new shielding method for magnetic fields of a wireless EV charger with regard to human exposure by eddy current and magnetic path

Electric vehicles offer promise as an effective solution to environmental problems. In order to create a charging infrastructure by installing equipment in such as locations as carports in private homes, the wireless battery charging system is very suitable. Leakage magnetic field from the system should follow the guideline of magnetic exposure-the ICNIRP. This paper presents a new shielding method which reduces the magnetic field exposure dramatically though high efficiency of power transfer is maintained. Proposed is a combination method of “magnetic flux path by magnetic material” and “magnetic field cancellation by eddy current flowing in a conductor plate”.
