Persistent ectopic pregnancy following conservative surgery for tubal pregnancy

The high failure rate of the ventouse together with the fact that its introduction has led to an overall increase in operative vaginal delivery has led us to the policy suggested by Cox and Paterson-Brown (Vol 103, December 1996)? that the ventouse should be used as the instrument of first choice in equivocal cases. We feel that the systematic reviews and our audit make this the appropriate policy.
