Efficient edge detection method for diagnosis of 2D and 3D lung and liver images

Treating cancer in the early stages provide more treatment options, less invasive surgery and increases the survival rate. Locating lung cancer as well as liver cancer at an early stage is the challenging task since there are few symptoms in this stage and majority of the cases are diagnosed in the later stages. Now a day's Image processing techniques are widely used in earlier detection and treatment for varies diseases. The majority of lung and liver cancers originate as a small growth or nodule. Screening CT scans are extremely sensitive in detecting nodules in the lungs and liver. Present work proposes a method to locate and detect the cancerous cells effectively from the 2D and 3D CT scan images by reducing the detection error made by the physicians' naked eye. Early stage of cancer is diagnosed by using image enhancement and Sobel edge segmentation techniques.
