A methodfordetermining theoptimum tapweights tocancel oneormoretonejammers ina tapped-delay line correlator isdescribed anddemonstrated toachieve almost perfect cancellation whencontinuous tapweight values areemployed. When thetapweights mustbe quantized, asinthecaseofadigital tapped-delay line, it isshownbycomputer simulation thatfive bits ofuniform quantization aresufficient toreduce thedegradation in output signal-to-interf erence ratio toless than3dBwhen thejam-to-signal ratios areaslarge as50dB.Since the optimum tapweights arecritically dependent onthejammingfrequencies, a methodofbroadening thecancellationregion isdiscussed, asisatechnique forestimating thejamming frequencies fromthesignals observed atthe taps.
