This article looks at keys to determining parking needs at country clubs, and the importance of conducting strategic planning before developing parking. Parking is often overlooked when country clubs are developed. Problems arise from the need to meet local jurisdictional codes based on the club’s size and function, which is often very different than the club’s real needs. Most clubs find that parking volume is not an issue because members come and go during the day. Special events, such as wedding, however, can cause problems. The author suggests that parking structures offer advantages over lots because they save land that can better be used for an enhanced putting green or other recreational facilities.
