Energy Management in Industry - a Practising Viewpoint

This paper discusses an energy conservation program as practised for the past four years by a food manufacturing company operating in four States of Australia. The reason behind the program's implementation and the specific approach adopted are discussed. Where actions have been influenced by outside developments such as government policy or tariff changes, an attempt is made to examine the result of such actions, particularly in the areas of boiler fuel options and electrical tariffs. The results to date and the future of the program are then briefly discussed. In conclusion some industry feedback gained from the author's contact with Energy Managers Group (Melbourne) regarding government policies is detailed.
