Field Oriented Control of Dual Three-Phase Induction Motor Drives using a Luenberger Flux Observer

In this paper a rotor field oriented control (RFOC) of a low-voltage, high-current dual three-phase induction machine for light traction is presented. To get an accurate flux estimation, a Luenberger observer has been used for rotor flux estimation. The observer uses a new pole placement technique to impose real poles directly in the z-plane to guarantee stability and improved transient response of discrete time implementations with a reasonable computational effort. The Luenberger observer with the proposed design procedure has been tested in a RFOC scheme implemented on a dedicated board employing a 16 bit, fixed-point digital signal processor (DSP)
