Incorporating Delay and Feedback in Intelligent Manufacturing Strategy Selection

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses delay and feedback in intelligent manufacturing strategy selection. In the approaches developed so far, the use of events with the same time stamps permits only the mining of direct, simultaneous associations. This chapter proposes a new dynamic causal mining (DCM) approach that takes into account events occurring at different times. It reviews the area of system dynamics involving feedback and delay and presents definitions of terms used in the paper. It also discusses dynamic causal rules and their behavior. The DCM approach enables the discovery of delayed and feedback relationships among events. The chapter presents a simple example illustrating the operation of the new DCM method.
