This paper first introduces a comprehensive fuzzy assessment theory and calculation approach. The existing problems of fuzzy comprehensive assessment, including assessment grade determination, membership function establishment, and composite operator choice, are discussed. A set of fuzzy comprehensive assessment method applied to long-span bridges is established. The fuzzy comprehensive assessment method is applied to the Harbin Songhua River Cable-stayed Bridge, and the assessment results are deemed reasonable and credible. The example proves that the method can provide scientific, real-time, and quantitative assessment for the operation status, maintenance, and management of long-span bridges; ensure the safe operation of bridges; and provide a quantitative basis for the decisionmaking relating to maintenance and management.
