THE OPTIMUM FORM OF A SMALL HULL FOR THE NORTH SEA AREA

The seakeeping performance and the calm water resistance of a systematic series of 17 small Ship hulls has been investigated. Sea conditions typical of the North Sea have been determined, and the main seakeeping responses have been computed for these conditions. The relative magnitude of these responses has been related to the hull form parameters, and a regression equation in terms of the hull form parameters has been applied to the calm water resistance. An optimum hull form has been determined.
