An Ontologically-based Trajectory Modeling Approach for an Early Warning System

Abstract: Thanks to advances in scientific research, communication and information studies, and sensor technologies, considerable progress has been made in the field of early warning systems, especially for animal zone tracking. A global early warning system is needed to inform us of pending threats. The basic idea behind early warning is that the earlier and more accurately we are able to predict short- and long-term potential risks associated with natural and human-induced hazards, the more likely we will be able to manage and mitigate a disaster’s impact on society, economies and the environment. Early warning is “the provision of timely and effective information, through identified institutions, that allows individuals exposed to hazard to take action to avoid or reduce their risk and prepare for effective response”.
