Separation of multiple and concurrent partial discharge phenomena

The problem of the identification and separation of multiple Partial Discharge phenomena simultaneously active within solid dielectrics is here investigated. Combined PD phenomena, caused by different PD sources, are separated by means of a stochastic procedure derived from a statistical analysis performed on three-dimensional PD pattern. The results are compared with those derived from PD measurements performed on the specimens producing a single PD phenomenon at a time. A comparison between the separated patterns coming from the combined electrode configuration and the single source patterns has been performed using some statistical parameters.
