A multimedia multilingual teaching and training system for speech and hearing impaired children : SPECO

In this paper we present the recently started SPECO-project, an EU financed project within the INCO-Copernicus program. The main aim is to develop an audio-visual pronunciation training and teaching system for speech and hearing impaired children. A teaching method is developed from individual sound preparation to training of the sounds in sentences. The basic part is a general language independent analysis system and a database editor. The database editor makes it possible to construct modules for all participant languages and for different speech disabilities. Two support systems are under development for all languages, one of them being for teaching and training vowels, while the other one is for correction of deviantly produced fricative sounds
