Dual-band CPW-fed slot antenna for LTE and WiBro applications

In this article, we present a dual-band coplanar waveguide-fed slot antenna for 1.7/2.3 GHz long term evolution and wireless broadband frequencies. The proposed antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.4. By cutting a pair of rotated T-shaped slits in the circular radiating stub, a new resonance at the lower frequencies is generated, and also by embedding a meander-line slit in the ground plane a good dual-band operation antenna can be achieved. The measured impedance bandwidth for 10 dB return loss is from 1.57 to 1.73 GHz (13%) and 2.21 to 2.38 GHz (10.0%), covering the 1.7/2.3 GHz for the dual-band wireless operations. Simulated and experimental results obtained for this antenna show that the proposed slot antenna has a good antenna gain and radiation behavior. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
