A broadband horizontally polarized omnidirectional antenna array consisting of four corrugated TSA elements

A broadband horizontally polarized (HP) omnidirectional antenna array consisting of four corrugated Tapered-Slot Antenna (TSA) elements is proposed in this letter. Corrugations of the TSA element contribute to the miniaturization of the array in this design, the diameter of which is just 90mm. With the utilization of the non-resonant TSA elements, the proposed antenna array exhibits a broad impedance bandwidth covering the WLAN/WIMAX bands, which is about 50 % for voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than 2 over the frequency ranging from 2.2 to 3.7GHz. As desired, an omnidirectional E-plane pattern is obtained, and the H-plane pattern acquires a wide beamwidth within the operating band. The prototype of the corrugated TSA array is fabricated and measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.
