Are Learning Styles a Good Predictor for Integrating Instructional Technology into a Curriculum

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between learning styles and students' attitudes towards the use of technology in a leisure study curriculum. All 422 subjects completed the Kolb learning style inventory (LSI) and a computer attitudes survey (CAS) developed by the authors. The LSI is a standardized assessment utilized to identify differences among individual learning styles and corresponding learning environments. The CAS measured students' attitudes towards the use of technology. Multiple regression analysis, used to distinguish whether attitude toward technology could be predicted by gender, class standing, major concentration, and learning style, showed no significant difference. Results supported the literature regarding the steady increase in the use of electronic mail and the Internet by students in higher education.
