Iterative estimation and cancellation of clipping distortion for turbo receiver in MIMO-OFDM system

The turbo receiver promises to provide significant increase in system performance in multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) - orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Meanwhile, clipping is usually applied to decrease the high peak-to-average power ratio caused by OFDM. However, the nonlinear distortion of the clipped signal causes loss of performance. To resolve this problem, an iterative estimation and cancellation of clipping distortion is proposed in the turbo receiver to reduce clipping influences with only little system complexity increase. It is shown by simulation results that system performance can be improved about 1 dB, and the performance is better with the lower clipping threshold.
