Multiple Phase Synchronization in Continuous Phase Modulation

Abstract This paper illustrates decoding algorithms wherein carrier phase recovery is accomplished by means of an array of synchronizers, instead of a single synchronizer as happens in conventional schemes. Algorithms with multiple synchronization are compared with others (traditional and untraditional) in terms of implementation complexity and error probability. It turns out that, in the presence of phase jitter, multiple phase tracking provides better performance than single phase tracking, with a limited increase in the overall processing load of the decoder.
