A method is proposed for calculating the transient axisymmetrical or 2-D magnetic fields, coupled with mechanical motion, and excited by a voltage source in a solenoidal electromagnet. The method involves the coupling of the finite element method, with the integral equation method. The advantages of the present method for directly solving the transient magnetic field, coupled with mechanical motion, and excited by a voltage source, are that the calculating process is easy, and the effect of the eddy currents and nonlinearity in the magnetic materials is taken into account. Good agreement between the calculation and the test results indicates that the proposed method is satisfactory. >
