DYNAMICS OF A FLEXIBLE ROTATING BEAM INTERACTING WITH A FLAT RIGID SURFACE, PART II: NUMERICAL SOLUTION

A dynamic model of the interaction of a rotating beam with a flat rigid surface has been presented in the first part of this paper. In this second part, the numerical algorithms for the contrained motion (i.e. contact with the surface) of the filament and of the complete interaction process are presented. Also presented are simulation results showing the influence of the process parameters on the normal contact force values. The angular speed is found to have a substantial effect both on the force values and location of contact zones.
