Power Quality Investigation of Grid Integrated PV System in Distribution Networks

Integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) with conventional grid in power system network is a vital need of today for the reliable, secure and sustainable electricity supply to the consumers. However the efficient integration of these renewable energy sources in conventional grid system is a challenging task and stresses crucial analysis of Power Quality parameters associated with the power system before implementing them in real time scenarios. This paper aims to model and analyse the power quality performance of Grid connected Photo Voltaic (PV) system in distribution networks. The study is carried out on grid integrated 250 KW PV system simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software. The performance of designed power system network is tested under varying irradiance, load magnitude, load type, grid-on and grid-off mode scenarios. Simulation results are presented in terms of different power quality parameters like power variations, voltage & current variations, and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of voltage and current waveforms at various nodes in a network.
