The Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS) celebrates its 50 th anniversary issue in 2010. This paper examines the inception of this journal and attempts to walk in the footsteps of its predecessors, the Data Processor (DE) and the Journal of Data Education (JDE). The keywords used to categorize the articles published in these journals were surfaced and analyzed to provide a time line of the evolution of the Information Technology (IT)/Information Systems (IS) disciplines. While this study has its limitations, it does provide an initial insight into the process of IT maturity.
