Audio reproducing velocity control apparatus

The audio reproducing device with a changeable reproducing speed aims to reproduce a voice in any reproducing speed without any voice deformation. A main controller 28 controls each portions of this device. A pitch detecting circuit 23 divides the input audio signal into a speech source and a characteristic sound that is generated by articulators such as a tongue, teeth, and lips. A pitch modulator 24 selectively deletes or adds the divided speech source according to a predetermined reproducing speed to control the length of the sound signal, and modulates the divided speech source by incorporating a window signal with a constant width with respect to the position of the speech source. A sound synthesizing circuit 25 synthesizes the voice signal with the predetermined speed.
