This study is powertrain mounting boss stiffness analysis for improving vehicle NVH. This paper describes a procedure to calculate the Free-Free boss stiffness of powertrain mounting bosses using a finite element model of the full powertrain. For individual boss stiffness analysis, inertia relief method is used in this study. The predicted individual boss stiffness is used for design evaluation of boss stiffness to improve vehicle NVH, and boundary conditions in a component mounting bracket modal analysis. Composite boss stiffness analysis is to improve stiffness assessment of a set of bosses, by replacing the assessment of individual bosses with the combined effects of their stiffness and their relative location.
