Fuzzy Logic based battery charging algorithm for wind turbine with dump load controller

Wind power as an environment friendly energy resource recently became the basic subject of investigation for researchers all over the world. Wind power is considered feasible replacement to fossil fuels as the prediction of the fuel shortage in the near future, forced all operators involved in energy production to explore this new and clean source of power. The present paper proposes a charging mechanism based on CC-CV technique for stand?alone wind turbine system controlled by fuzzy logic control system. Single PI controller with FUZZY logic based Gain tuning is proposed instead of multiple series and parallel PI controllers to avoid ripples or fluctuations and to get smooth response. CC mode is used to fasten the battery charging initially whereas CV mode avoids the battery overcharging. Over voltage and over speed protection is introduced for protection of our system. In this paper, Simulink model for wind based battery charging system is proposed and some simulation studies are carried out to prove the credibility of proposed design. Simulation result proves the proposed system supremacy over the conventional wind energy based battery charging system.
