Radio resource management strategies for packet data services in UMTS

The paper addresses the key issue of radio resource management policies for UMTS systems with packet transmission. Only the downlink has been considered assuming asymmetrical multimedia traffic conditions. We present a new approach to queue management that shows promising results for data services without impairing voice performance.
