From theories to systems

Computer support for cooperative work cannot be devised without an implicit or explicit theory of what cooperative work is. Explicit theories of cooperative work can direct our attention to opportunities for computer support, and can yield systems which encourage specific communication styles and organizational structures. The panelists in this session are all both theorists and implementers.
