Women in Civil Engineering

A survey questionnaire and study has been done on how ASCE can encourage more women to become civil engineers and participate more in ASCE activities. Results of this survey together with those performed by other scientific and educational organizations are reported on the women who are now in the civil engineering profession. Conclusions are made about the educational and social factors that affect the entrance of women into the profession and their acceptance in the role of a civil engineer. Recommendations are made on specific programs that ASCE can undertake to advance opportunities for women in civil engineering.
