Technological challenges in the Delft virtual reality exposure therapy system

In this paper the architecture and use of the Delft VRET system is described. In this generic VRET system special emphasis is given to usability engineering of the user interface for the therapist. The results of controlled experiments with patients are summarized. The system has been in regular use in a few clinics since 2005. New technological and functional challenges of VRET are presented. These challenges will lead to improvements of the system in the future. Agent support for the therapist and tele-VRET are the most promising challenges.
