Determine product family mix and priority mix for semiconductor fabrication considering demand variation

This study proposes an active approach to jointly determine the product family mix and order priority mix for effective semiconductor fabricator manufacturing. Product family refers to a set of products with similar processes. The product family mix decision based on the proposed method can be adopted as a more practical initial information (or a constraint) for detailed product mix decision. Rather than finding an optimal solution, the proposed method selects an appropriate decision alternative from a pool of candidates. Performance indices associated with different objectives, e.g., profits and throughput, can be collected and evaluated. Uncertainty of environmental parameters, such as demand, is also incorporated in the decision making. The proposed method actively suggests a decision with relatively superiors performance under various demand; thus the decision is resistant to the demand fluctuations.
