Agile approaches are popular, and companies target to adapt to these. Especially for transforming the traditional into tomorrow’s world, well-defined interfaces between different artifacts of an Electric/Electronic (E/E) architecture are highly beneficial. These interfaces describe OEM interdepartmental transitions as well as transitions between OEMs and suppliers. In terms of supporting already introduced agile approaches, the BMW Group is currently evaluating and performing a roll-out of model-based approaches in order to foster the notion of agile automotive Systems Engineering (aaSE). Within this contribution, we present the status quo by revealing current challenges as well as possible solutions. In respect to practicability, we describe two examples that are currently elaborated within the development of the next E/E architecture generation at the BMW Group. In respect of both examples, we illustrate how model-based systems engineering may support an agile working model ideally. This working model ensures seamless and consistent traceability of requirements and their implementation.
