Congestion Management is to enhance the transient stability in a deregulated power system using FACTS devices

Congestion management is the technical challenge in a Deregulated power system environment. Two types of Methodologies used in congestion Management are non-cost free methods and cost free methods. In this research work congestion is relieved by using cost-free methods considering FACTS Devices. The performance and analysis of UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller, TCSC (Thyristor-controlled series compensator) and SSSC (Static Synchronous series compensator) are used to enhance the transient stability and the results are compared in the IEEE 14 bus test system. This work is done by using PSAT (Power System analysis toolbox) MATLAB software. Three phase fault is created at bus 5and the best location of FACTS Devices are found through the sensitivity based Eigen value analysis. The results show that the proposed approach has a capability to improve transient Stability in the deregulated power system.
