A simple expression for the frequency error due to data truncation, sampling rate, and initial phase effects is derived for Burg's maximum entropy technique involving a single real sinusoid. Its usefulness as a guide to error estimation for high signal-to-noise cases is indicated by comparing it with the recently published results of a computer simulation.
