EVALUATION OF NEONICOTINOIDS AND CONVENTIONAL INSECTICIDES AGAINST COTTON JASSID, AMRASCA DEVASTANS (DIST.) AND COTTON WHITEFLY, BEMISIA TABACI (GENN.) ON COTTON

Study was conducted to compare the efficacy of neonicotinoids and conventional insecticides one cotton crop at Multan for crop years 2002 and 2003 against cotton jassid, Amrasca devastans (Dist.) and whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.). Experiment was laid in randomized complete block design. Diafenthiuron, acetamiprid, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam proved to be the most effective in reducing jassid population below ETL (1-1.5/leaf) up to seven days after application during both the years. All the insecticides could not reduce the population of whitefly below ETL (5/leaf) during 2002, seven days after application. How over, during 2003 population of whitefly was below ETL in plots treated with acetamiprid (3.38/leaf) and diafenthiuran (2.69/leaf) seven days after application.
